England is a country of rolling green hillsides and stunning, ancient scenery-- but the jewel in its crown is undoubtedly the Lake District.
The Lake District is an area of natural beauty that is without parallel. This accepted fact was further solidified when the area was awarded UNESCO World Heritage status in 2017. Cast an eye over the photographs of the beautiful scenery, rugged mountains, rocky outcrops, and lush greenery and it’s easy to see why the Lake District is one of the most popular tourist sites in the UK. There is no better place to enjoy this delightful countryside than at Brooklands, deep in the heart of the Lake District.
Where To Go
By far the best known region of the Lake District is the area around Windermere; the largest lake in England. Brooklands is located only a 15-minute walk from the lake, ensuring that you’re right in the centre of the action. A vibrant, bustling tourist community has sprung up around Windermere’s shores, with more attractions to be enjoyed than could ever be discovered on a single visit. Thankfully, the area is so glorious, it undoubtedly merits a second (and third, and fourth…) visit.
What can you expect if you decide to base yourself at Brooklands, one of the finest guest houses near Windermere? First and foremost, scenery like you have never seen before; watch the sunrise over the mountains from the comfort of one of our five guest rooms. You’ll also have the chance to enjoy all the facilities we have to offer, from comfortable and homely rooms through to the free Wifi that any modern traveller needs. And don’t forget, you’re only a 15-minute walk from Windermere itself; so have a lazy morning enjoying our complimentary breakfast, then head out to explore.
What To Do
We are fortunate in that we are surrounded by a large number of wonderful tourist attractions, so you’ll never be short of something to do. One of the most popular destinations near to us is the World of Beatrix Potter, which features attractions and displays based on the works of the famed children’s author. A perfect day out if you have a young family, you can immerse yourself in this quaint world, recapturing a little childhood magic of your own. You can wander through the magic garden, enjoying panoramic views of the lake itself, and explore the world of Mrs. Tiggywinkle and Peter Rabbit at your leisure.
Alternatively, Brooklands is close to the Holehird Gardens, a glorious tribute to all the bounty that nature has to offer. If you prefer something a little more high-octane, there’s also plenty of locations nearby that offer base jumping, gorge walking, or rock climbing.
Along with the guest house itself, you can enjoy the nearby town of Bowness-on-Windermere; a picturesque delight featuring coffee shops, restaurants, and gift shops where you can buy something to remember your visit by. When you’re all shopped out, you can head back to Brooklands, feeling full of the wonders of the food, the atmosphere, and the calm serenity of being surrounded by such a stunning landscape. We at Brooklands want to ensure your stay is as perfect as it can be, so we’re always willing to make recommendations on activities, and will go out of our way to ensure you enjoy your time with us.
