Bed and Breakfast. Perhaps those words conjure up all sorts of dreamy images. Fresh coffee, crispy toast, sunny morning views and the warm smile of a welcoming host. The concept of a warm bed and a hearty breakfast is many a century old yet the term ‘Bed and Breakfast’ found its way to the English language sometime after World War II when many folk from overseas would come to the United Kingdom and need a place to stay. It then became common for local residents to offer a room in their home for the night and a tasty breakfast to set them on their way the next morning. Thus began the ‘holiday home’ that has become for many, part of our happy history.
There are times when a weekend away is all it takes. It’s all we need to reset, to refresh and to face the world and Monday mornings once more.
